MILLENNIUM TROUT LAKE 11th Dec

Last week proved to be a bumper week for fly anglers, with the average return being 8+ trout! Mainly lure type flies and blobs but also some falling to natural patterns.

(9.12.2018) Rib Valley Fly Fishing Club held their annual ‘Fur and Feather’ match on Sunday. Seventeen anglers attended and all caught fish. Winner of the day was John Uppcot with the heaviest bag weight, George Fryer second and Gary Billington third. After the match the anglers retired to the Old Tack Room for Mulled wine, tea or coffee and Mince pies, where prizes were given out and banter prevailed.

Remember the Millennium Lake is a registered TroutMasters water, so please do fill in those entry cards and send them in! Any fish 3lb and over is worth sending in and you may make it through to our lake final next year and maybe even into the grand final! The top three fish of each month at our lake receive a TroutMasters badge to sew onto your cap!

Please remember that ALL Brown trout are to be returned.  If you should get a good picture of these, or for that matter any of the trout from the lake I would love to have a copy and be able to put some new photos up on the website. Just send them through to my email address.

Hope to see you on the bank soon!

RIB COARSE FISHING LAKE 2nd Dec

A little slower over the last week but still some nice fish being brought to the bank. Cell boilies still working for some. The weed is starting to drop to the bottom now the temp is dropping and the sunlight hours are getting shorter. Don’t forget there are some lovely Roach to be found in the lake but be patient, set the trap and wait for them to come to you! Also some nice Perch being caught on lure and bait methods to nearly 3lb. A few Pike also being caught, again on both lures and dead baits.

(below) Regular angler Mark Negus with yet another big fish! This Common tipped the scales to 26lb. (1.12.2018)

(below) Taylor with a pretty Mirror of 15lb 2oz and Lewis Littlechild with a PB Mirror of 28lb 7oz, both caught during daylight hours.

(above) Nicol visit to the lake resulted in this lovely 32lb 5oz

Look for signs of life before setting up, a 5min walk around the lake before starting could mean the difference between catching and not!

WESTMILL COARSE FISHING LAKE 11th Dec

Have a quick walk round the lake to look for signs of the fish as pegs have been a bit hit or miss the last week. Still reports of some nice bags with Bream to 5lb and Carp to 11lb along with Roach and Perch. Water temp is starting to drop, so little and often is best rather than loads at once!

River Rib 11th Dec

Getting some good reports of some quality fish being caught. Perch to over 3lb on rubber jigging methods and Chub to 5lb on bait tactics. Also some nice sized Roach and Dace.

A 3lb 8oz Chub taken on bread flake

We have done some clearance work on the river to make the swims more accessible, particularly on the Westmill Lake area.
